This rug has a great balance of deeper tones and pops of colour. As a base, bold colour blocks are overlapped with thin flowing lines, that look almost as if they have been hand drawn. Azilal rugs are known for their looser weave giving them a rawness that you just don't get with rugs from other regions (I'm looking at you Turkish and Persian rugs). Contemporary vibe right here!

This beautiful medium size Azilal rug is perfect for lounge rooms and bedrooms.

 

MATERIAL

This Rug was handwoven in the mountains of Azilal in Morocco. Made from all natural fibres with wool coming from sheep in the local area.

 

A circular process from start to finish the local community gather the sheep’s wool to process, dye and spin in the villages of the Azilal region making it ready for weaving.

MAKER

This rug has been handmade in the Atlas Mountains by women from the Azilal region who have learnt techniques from their ancestors. They do their magic on the loom -literally- incorporating ancient symbols to deflect the evil eye and bring good luck to both the maker and rug in your home.

 

WHAT IS AN AZILAL RUG?

So what is an Azilal rug, I hear you say. Azilal rugs are a type of Moroccan rug that come from the Azilal region in the heart of the Atlas mountains - about 180km from Marrakech. (It’s actually where my partner grew up). Characterised by a riot of colour and vibrant free-form patterns, Azilal Moroccan rugs in Australia are a contemporary expression of creativity.

Each Moroccan Miracles rug is one of a kind handwoven artwork that we source on the ground in Morocco using traditional ways of purchasing. Although the rugs are woven by our Moroccan sisters, men are often involved in the initial cleaning and dying of the wool along with the final stages of cleaning the rug and taking it to sell. Although we celebrate the artworks of our sister weavers, we recognise that it takes a community and not just one woman.

It is important to us that you are happy with your purchase. If for any reason you do not wish to keep your purchase you can return it within the 14 days of receipt for your money back or an exchange - it's your choice. 

To be eligible for a return, your item must be in the same condition that you received it, unworn or unused, with tags, and in its original packaging. You’ll also need the receipt or proof of purchase.
