MAKER
This Moroccan hall runner rug has been handmade by women from the Azilal region in the heart of the Atlas mountains - about 180km from Marrakech. These women have learnt ancient weaving techniques from their ancestors. They do their magic on the loom -literally- incorporating ancient symbols to deflect the evil eye and bring good luck to them -the maker- and the future owner of the rug.
WHAT IS AN AZILAL RUG?
Moroccan Azilal rugs come from the high Atlas mountains about 180kms from Marrakech. Characterised by a riot of colour, geometric designs and vibrant free-form patterns, Azilal rugs are a contemporary expression of creativity.
Using ancient symbols and storytelling traditions, Azilal rugs are one-of-a-kind art pieces, weaving a story from the talented women behind these hand-knotted types of Moroccan rugs. What makes Azilal carpets so special is the whimsical artistic design, featuring bold shapes, bold colours and intricate geometric patterns.
This rug is a robust all natural rug, refer to our How do I clean/care for my Moroccan rug FAQ's to keep your rug in its best condition.
